Can't boot with USB C monitor connected

I’m running android 12, and when I connect my touchscreen monitor to the USB C port on the Rock 5 it will not boot. Black screen, nothing. If I only connect HDMI it boots fine, and then I can either switch to USB DP-alt or HDMI + USB C for touch. Something about it being connected during boot is causing problems. Any idea?

Here’s a video of the problem. I emailed Radxa a couple days ago about this but they have not responded.

Hi, I have similar issue with 4k monitor. 1080p is working fine with reboot etc. but with 4k I have to power off the monitor on reboot (so more power for sbc is available) then it booting fine.

Hmm. My monitor has it’s own power, so idk why that would be the issue. I wonder if there’s a way for me to rule out a power issue. I have tried booting on 1080p and it has the same proble.
