Cant boot with HDMI plugged in

Good morning,

I recently got my Rock 5 b and now I am getting started with. Currently I am using the ubuntu image on an SSD. After upgrading to 22.04 the system won’t boot with the HDMI cable plugged in. If I Start the system without the cable plugged in it boots to CLI. Plugging in the cable after booting works fine though. Has anyone experienced the same behavior and perhaps found a fix?

Happens to me too with armbian jammy. Unplugging hdmi makes it boot instantly.

Update: I installed the u-boot boot loader and I observed an improvement. It now boots to CLI with HDMI attached.
Update 2: I just installed the Ubuntu desktop and it boots to it as well.
