ryan? i got a screen. 3 times but never again. it was using my cable that works with everything else i own. is my 30w power supply adequate? what should i do?
if i cant get this to work, can i get a full refund? or replacement with known working tested?
Both of my brand new x4 units dont show a screen on startup
You mean x4 working 3 times without problem, then you can not get screen again.
whatās the different you do? in BIOS or OS?
And did you try the openwrt I sent? working stable for openwrt everytime?
i did nothing, removed power cable and reinserted. i made no changes.
you werent available last night so i tried a google chrome os recovery flash drive to get a screen and that worked once but not again until i moved the drive to another usb. then it stopped working.
today i will try your open wrt.
i also ordered a new micro hdmi to hdmi cable and a 45w power supply to rule those out.
please give me an answer regarding refund/replacement
You need to contact the customer service of the AliExpress store where you purchased it for after-sales service. Of course, we need your help to confirm that the SBC is indeed defective and needs to be returned to the factory for repair.
yes naturally. and it was at your official store that i bought my most recent 2. its unfortunate you wont warranty something not bought at the official store. you should say that on your website somewhere!
so today ill burn that image you gave me but i need to wait till tomorrow for my new cable and power supply. so have a good stress free day! and thanks for the help
the new hdmi cable fixed it. wow thats amazing to me. thanks ryan
You hear lots of negative reports regards Mini HDMI cables, indeed even Micro HDMI is extremely fragile when in use, so much so, that in my experience, then so much as an brush with those cables in use seems to momentarily result in an black screen.
You have an heavy set-up, obviously you are more inclined for full size HDMI use, but you have to ask why is there an lot of dissatisfaction found on-line regards MINI HDMI cables and particularly it seems to centre around the port, aswell consider this?.
Its surely quite an feat to pack some nineteen odd connectors into an rather miniscule connector block and port setup, perhaps itās sensitivity thats the real issue, but as said there is an awful lot of dissatisfaction online regards Mini and Micro HDMI cables and ports?
Sure micro USB has proved its self reliable as an billion or so mobile telephones atestify, but I honestly do believe it has to be the miniscule dimensions and the sensitivity of both Mini and Micro HDMI ports connectors and cables thatās the real issue here?.
Maybe thatās what it really is, you see Micro USB has proved reliable for large scale manufacturing in an myriad of mobile devices but can it be incorporated into HDMI and is it just as reliable?
Well I donāt know about that?, but thereās an awful lot of dissatisfaction regards Mini and Micro HDMI thatās for sureā¦
One other point, just to outline the obvious electro- sensitivity of the HDMI protocol, itās incredibly easy to read signals that leak around HDMI port connectors, so much so that an simple electro sensor placed near an HDMI port can successfully read and interpret your HDMI signal and recreate your screen and allow for eavesdropping.
Itās an serious issue that for some sensitive use cases means that shielding the HDMI port is the only way for businesses to keep there sensitve data safe.
Think about it? an literal juvenile with his pocket money and with the help of Tandy Corp could raid your business secrets and this for the rudiments of the HDMI protocol which leaks itās signal like an sieve.
Itās an serious issue that business knows only too well, they know that HDMI is indeed anything but safe and I believe that was almost certainly your issue, but donāt worry my friend because in this you are certainly not alone?
im only doing music on my computer so i doubt anyone would be interested. and the chances are small anyway. im not dumb when im doing things on the computer. i might be dumb for having the wrong hdmi cable, sure. my bad.
Iām not suggesting someone is interfering with your HDMI output just pointing out the fact the HDMI protocol is obviously highly electro-sensitive, you may also want to consider that the phenomenon of sensitve Micro HDMI cables is well understood amongst Camera enthusiasts and retailers of Camera equipment often make an point of retailing only high quality Micro HDMI cables aswell the same enthusiasts also often complain about low quality cables, whatās more an Micro HDMI cable typically retails for up to 3 times the discount price of say ebay or amazon if on sale at an camera shop.
They habitually stock the highest quality cables and itās well known within this industry that low quality Micro HDMI cables are said to be an bad investment.
They are proffesionals and I would trust there judgement.
However letās be sure of one thing, you or I could never spot an low quality cable, and given the furore regards Micro HDMI cables often complained about and the fact you have two not one dead screen issue which you attribute to the X4, it seems more likely thatās an cable issue rather two consecutive faulty units.
Thatās surely not possible, the issue must relate to the screen or cable it could not be the X4s.
I would purchase an high quality cable from an reputable camera equipment retailer and if possible and to remove any doubt you may have regards the issue of low quality HDMI cables then, kindly try to get some good and relavent advice from the retailer whose experience you may find helpfull if not enlightening.
The cable may cost considerably more from an reputable retailer but it could well be your only problem my friend.
