Bootloader, RKDevTool, Maskrom problem

Hi guys,

I’m a beginner in Rock 5 ITX!

First I installed Android as described in …/rock5/rock5itx/other-os/android/install-os on ssd (nvme).
Because I expected a more powerful Android I decided to switch to Radxa OS. So I prepared a sd card as described in …/rock5/rock5itx/getting-started/install-os/boot_form_sd_card and used the image rock-5-itx_debian_bullseye_kde_b6.img.xz
The computer boots from the sd card and it runs without any problem. Now I want to install this image on my ssd (nvme). So I followed the instructions in …rock5/rock5itx/getting-started/install-os/nvme. I executed all steps successfully, especially the step “Use the system utility rsetup to flush the SPI”.
If I remove the SD card and do a reboot, the computer does nothing (blank screen). My assumption is, that there is something wrong with the bootloader. I tried to update it via the rsetup tool in Radxa OS but the problem is the same. So I tried the RKDevTool to fix the problem. But no device will be found. The installation of the tool and the connection should be correct because it worked fine for me at the Android installation. I have no idea what the reason could be why no device is found.

Could you help me why the RKDevTool doesn’t find a device and how to install the correct bootloader on the correct way for running Radxa OS from the ssd (nvme), please?

Thank you very much in advance for your help. I’m concerned about if the board could be corrupted…

Best regards
Albrecht

When you short the recovery pin, can you enter the roobi system from emmc?

I bridged the two pins marked as “Recovery” near the ssd and started the computer without a sd card. A blank screen appeard. No reaction. The system still works fine with the sd card and Radxa OS (Debian) on it. Perhaps this could help to flash the emmc?

Because I still have the problems have tried the follwing steps to solve the problems:

  • Boot Radxa OS (Debian) from ssd card
  • rsetup: System / Bootloader Management / Update eMMC Bootpartition / rock-5-itx bootloader
  • Got the error: The updating process has failed. System might be broker

I think that I’m now at the point to send back the board, right?

  1. can you re-run the process?
    https://docs.radxa.com/en/roobi/install-roobi?devices=itx
  2. remove the ssd card, empty the contents of the ssd and hook it up, then power on and boot up
  3. install the image via robi to spi+nvme
    https://docs.radxa.com/en/roobi/roobi-usage?devices=itx

Om my 5b+ mashrom button also does not work.
I used EDK2 bootloader for installing Debian:

I could install ROOBI OS and install Radxa OS on my SSD. Thank you very much for your help!
