Boot from external hd

But is booting from hd possible? I have an external ssd but I can’t install the operating system backup on it. Only Android?Thanks

I tried to install a backup or directly Ubuntu on HD,but any HD attachment to the USB is not recognized.The usual HD is regularly recognized by the Rock to installed OS
