I have installed Armbian 23.5 Jammy XFCE on Rock Pi 5b.
Wifi router is connected to house alarm system in a place hard to get to.
So I hope I can get Wifi working without cable. I plugged Wifi card Intel AX201NGW
ifconfig is not available. I have to install net-tools
iwlist scanning requires wifi device name.
XFCE UI is not showing wifi connection just ethernet in disconnected state.
Any advice is apreciated. Thanks
Somewhere I read that I have to use legacy image as recent one has issue with wifi
How did you get this Wifi card installed on Rock 5?
AX201 uses CnVi interface, not PCIe, so it can only be used with Intel processors.
Long story short, the AX201 is half a Wifi card, the other half of it is in the Intel processors. It may be physically compatible with the M.2 E key, but not protocol compatible. You should return it and buy an AX200 or AX210.

Get the AX210 NGF its Wifi 6E and for armbian if not already merged all you need is to run 2 commands.
