Apt-update installing KDE updates in a cli only build

Have been happily running OMV 7 using a cli build.

The build was constructed using the Radxa build tool where the relevant switches were set to exclude the inclusion of plasma etc.

I haven’t executed an OS update in a few months. Just did - but saw there were 100 something packages related to KDE, GUI, Desktop, Video, etc which could all blow up my OMV installation. Is there some way to disable these updates or do I just need to avoid an apt-update/upgrade? Previous updates have not forced these components on me.

Radxa always say you should update with rsetup, not apt. Not sure what difference this makes but there must be something to this if they insist.

Yup, tried/tested three different ways, rsetup, inside OMV and just using cli. Inside of omv and webmin I can see the list of packages - when you run rsetup there is a simple press the button and hope for the best.

All methods add a ton of kde related stuff - about 110 packages.

I built a clean cli only build back in January. No gui’s. I loaded the iso, Installed, did the usual updates, then installed OMV. All has been running fine. But now when I update (with rsetup) it finishes up with an error and what appears to be a bit of an orphan package - “firmware-misc-nonfree”. The interweb seems to think this is some uber firmware package. So I’m wary of just deleting it. Anybody have thoughts on this package - it’s just sits in the omv upgrade queue, all by itself.

Looks like there has been a Radxa fix posted. Couple of patches that get installed by apt update.
