Radxa Cubie A5E — 1 GB version
(The issue occurs on both the 1 GB and 4 GB models.)
Running the t6 (rsdk) image.
The device has an aluminum heatsink on the CPU and nearby components.
In idle mode everything works fine.
CPU frequency is capped at 1.01 GHz.
Conditions:
Running project that performs image analysis (not AI — just raw video input processing).
Overall system load stays around 30 % or less.
CPU temperature remains between 50 °C and 60 °C.
Problem:
At a random moment, the device suddenly loses power. There’s about a 25 % chance that it will recover on its own and power back up automatically.
In the remaining 75 % of cases , the device enters a partial power loss state: for example, the Ethernet port’s RX/TX LEDs are still on, but the device itself won’t power up.
Even after unplugging and reconnecting the power cable or toggling the power switch on the PSU, the device often still refuses to boot . In many cases, I need to replug the cable multiple times (up to 10) before it finally starts.
I’ve tested multiple power supplies (3 A to 5 A).
The problem occurs across different OS images, from stable releases up to t3–t6 rsdk builds, and on both A5E 1 GB and A5E 4 GB devices.
