5B - RKDevTool_Release_v2.96 - Loading Config File Failed?

Hi! I’ve been able to use RKDev_Tool before but now it’s telling me Loading Config File Failed?

Am I missing something?

Sam USB port and cable?
I got this issue with usb-A, usb-C worked perfectly.

RkDevTools is on version 3.25 or so… and the load the file is just a saved config file which means that u can reproduce that aspect of rkdev to flash ur images spi etc. The excel look has options that u can add remove or change to make them look just as like in this image:

Where to download the latest version of rkdevtools? Good question. Idk either but other vendors have updated it while radxa still shows the 2.96

Does it matters ? Honestly… no the 2.96 does the job.

I won’t rush with update, in fact I’m keeping about four of them now because it’s just easier to use the one that was supported at time and for older board. As example - I recently needed to flash ROCK 4B+, v2.96 did not worked, but same thing with v2.86 did the job smoothly. Most recent version may be better, but I bet that they don’t test that with everything. Still we need specific cable and port to make this to work. Of course this may change with recent windows versions or updates, so far no problem to keep few :slight_smile:

According to logs several small issues were fixed and some new features about multi-images, jffs, second/multi storage and some partition formats. Nothing that You need until You know about those.
Of course maybe new images would require some of those. Certainly no usb/driver/communication updates so still we will have those weird errors on wrong cable/port.

Are u sure that the 2.96 didnt worked ? Were the spl file updated ? and the image extracted? ive done a lot of them flashings on cm5 and with older and newer versions never failed me so far to the point of saying that only worked with one version.

This may be specific to image, I can see in changelog that they corrected several small issues,
Newer version failed to finish whole process, older was ok with same setup and same thing to do. I’ll recheck that later as well as recent versions.

But the question remains… where the f…is the oficial source of the tool? I cant find anything on google about where to download the latest and greatest version of the tool. And so… we have to be ‘digging’ from vendor to vendor… makes no sense to me

I don’t know either,
probably it’s distributed with all docs straight from rockchip for partners and it’s up to them to publish whenever they need. For linux version there is also not so much changes in official rkdeveloptool but at least its open source so there are updated forks
