Yeahhh I love this one I actually own this:
Will there ever be a Radxa 500 computer with a passively cooled keyboard?
One of my favourite keyboards is the Logitech K380 because it has round membrane keys. A Radxa keyboad computer could use similar round membrane keys but with a layout that Logitech doesn’t supply (such as a gamer layout). Round keycaps would be easy to create exra keycap stickers for, in fact it would be easy to create properly spaced full-keyboard adhesive layouts in different languages. That way I could get a native swedish keyboard while keeping the official layouts to a minimum.
The concept of round keys could actually be taken even further. With a split-spacebar 75% gamer layout and swedish keycap stickers I could implement something like the sketch below. But that is probably for another thread.
Meanwhile I’m keeping my fingers crossed for a 3-series version with a 65% layout. It would be the perfect companion for my 5-series main computer.
Yes @hipboi, I find it too big (while I do understand this is just experimental).
I’d love the same form factor than the Raspberry Pi 500 and Orange Pi 800: it would be clearer for advertisements and comparison with competitors.
And those whom really want can still add a wireless bigger keyboard (which is what I’d certainly do)
Beside: it has been more than 1 year since you gave us a glimpse at the experimental device: are you able to give us an update, or even better a rough estimate for the release to market of the finished device?
Hopefully an Intel N150 “Radxa 500” will somehow look like this:
(Yeah chatGPT messed up a bit the image generation )
Alright guys, time to put that subject to rest: they dropped the ball
I sent an email to ask for an update and here is the answer below:
Made alternate plans to build my secondary system around a 8 GB Zero 3W instead. Enough oomph to fulfill my backup needs, I believe.
…and before I forget… The sweet spot for this type of machine is as a retro-gaming system for tinkerers (basically everyone with a quirky, semi-nostalgic smile). The problem is that board rooms regrettably have a blind spot for that specific audience.
As for me I might go for my 2nd best choice: a GMKtec G3 Plus
