Rock 5b+ usb-2 ports not working

@ken - i have two of those boards and both have the same problem … i measured 0 and 1.3v on the top one and 0.88v on both sides of the bottom one … the other two small components above and left of the lower one are not there in case that matters in any way

are the schematics and placement pdf files available for 5b+ v1.2 somewhere for download?

One more thing I can add is that I have noticed the USB ports are getting warm on 5b+ without anything attached? Doesn’t really makes sense to me what is getting hot there but they are getting handwarm.

Is this the case after you received the board? Is there any special operation? At present, there is a problem with this voltage. Can you take a clear picture of both the front and back of the board.

this is as good as i was able to take a picture of the front and back:

@ken - as the forum seems to shrink the image files - here are the full jpeg files: https://github.com/hexdump0815/temporary-space

It’s supposed to be the heat from the board running.

Please do me another favor and measure the three pin voltage of this mos ic.

@ken - top is 1.3v - bottom left 0v and bottom right 5.1v - chip is labeled x1hv 12

@ken - i think i see what the problem is: its a production error in the placement of that mos ic - on my boards it is located about a mm too much towards the b-key connector and thus does either not have proper contact or even creates a short to other traces … it can be clearly seen if i look closely at my boards with a loupe and it is also quite well visible if i compare the location of that component on your image above and on the front.jpg image (the full size one linked above at my github link) of my board.

I just checked my boards (via looking at it :D) and it seems on all boards there is a good portion of a mm space between those components…

@Goetterfunke - so on yours its ok or its off too?

Hi There, mine are working. Well at least the two I have tested (all 4 usb + usb-c working). I’m currently only using one usb3 port on my 5b (non plus) with a 10port hub.

just some update on this topic: i got both boards working fine with usb2 and bluetooth by unsoldering and properly resoldering the above mentioned component with a friend which was not really easy, but doable after a few tries … so the root cause of the problem was really a not properly soldered component on both boards …
